Though an explosion in Iraq cut the career of Army Infantryman Matthew Bernard short, he hasn’t forgotten his fellow veterans as he has gone on to his new career.

In December 2008, Bernard founded Brinestone, a full IT service provider for small and mid-size businesses in Milford, New Hampshire. With two employees so far, he plans to keep his eye out for veterans to hire as the company expands. He hopes to offer paid training and certification for top-notch employees joining Brinestone after leaving military service.

Looking after others is natural for Bernard, even as he has made his own recovery. When he was wounded, Soldiers’ Angels was there to help, and he soon became a liaison between Soldiers’ Angels and other wounded warriors in need of support or assistance. Supporting his fellow veterans by giving them the opportunity to build their careers in the IT field is just a continuation of the care he gave his brothers when he was an Infantryman.

Bernard has always been proactive–when he ran into problems during his recovery, he created a documentary detailing the challenges veterans sometimes face when trying to get healthcare and rehab support. When he decided he wanted to be “his own man,” he bravely stepped out to build a new company.

Soldiers’ Angels salutes Matthew Bernard for his courage, his service, his perseverance during recovery, and his determination to build a new company during these challenging times. So if you live and work in the Northeast and need full-service IT help, check out Brinestone!
